Provides the training necessary to ship non-hazmat products, such as perishables, with dry ice. As long as you are not shipping any hazmat other than Dry Ice in your shipment, it is not required by the U.S. D.O.T. that employees receive function specific training per 49 CFR. If you are shipping Dry Ice with other hazardous materials, then further training is needed.
This course provides familiarity with the requirements of U.S. Department of Transportation Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (49CFR) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and enables the employee/student to prepare dry ice shipments with no other hazardous materials other than dry ice. It is a systematic program that ensures a hazmat employee/student has familiarity with the regulations, and knows how to apply it to their job function.

Learning Objective
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Comply with requirements for training and security.
- Determine applicability of Dry Ice to their shipments.
- Utilize the hazardous materials / dangerous goods lists.
- Package shipments needing dry ice.
- Communicate hazard by marking and labeling a package.
- Document a shipment with dry ice properly.
Final Objective
Emphasis is placed on each student’s responsibility when offering shipments containing dry ice into transportation.
